Our MISSION is to create a movement of young adults who connect through relationships, community service, and spirituality.

Being our true selves not only allows for personal transformation, it also encourages others the freedom to fully become themselves.
Discovery is a journey, not a destination, that requires investment and action.  Our goal is to create contexts for young adults to discover the truth of who God is and His unique design for their lives.
The Gospel is the whole story of Jesus. It’s the eternal “good news” of God’s redemption of all people through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus. Everything we do begins and ends with the Gospel.

We want to be a part of what God is doing in our city by daily living on mission with Him. Jesus gave a mission to His closest followers and all spiritual seekers in His last words on this earth in Matthew 28:18-20, which can be summarized as:
  • GOING – daily living on MISSION
  • KNOWING – truly knowing Jesus through a personal relationship
  • GROWING – grow in your faith as you grow relationally with others

Spiritual Beliefs

GOD We believe in the one true, eternal God. He is the creator of all things, our provider, holy, perfect without fault or sin, sovereign, all knowing, all powerful, glorious, gracious, merciful, loving, desires to redeem all people for Himself, and to make all things new for His glory and purpose. We believe God is revealed through Scripture in three divine Persons, also called the Trinity: God the Father, God the Son (Jesus), and the God the Spirit (Holy Spirit).

Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 45:5-6; Isaiah 46:9-10; John 17:3; 1 Corinthians 8:5-6; 1 Timothy 2:5; Genesis 1:1-31 & 2:1-4; Psalm 45:6-7; Matthew 3:13-17, 1 John 4:8, 2 Peter 3:9, Isaiah 40:28, John 3:16, Malachi 3:6, 2 Corinthians 13:14, John 1:18, Psalm 90:2, Revelation 4:11

JESUS We believe Jesus is God incarnate, and is both fully God and fully man. We believe that Jesus is eternal and was God’s redemption for mankind before Creation. Jesus was conceived through the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, was crucified and died a sinner’s death, defeated sin and death by raising from the dead, and ascended into heaven to sit at the right hand of God the Father until at the Father’s appointed time, he returns back to the earth to complete the redemption of His people.

Hebrews 13:8, John 8:58, John 1:1-5, 14, Isaiah 9:6, Colossians 1:15-17, John 10:30-38, Genesis 1:26, Philippians 2:5-7, Hebrews 1:1-4, Isaiah 53:5, Matthew 24:30-31, 36, 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17, 1 Corinthians 15:51-57, John 5:19-30, Titus 2:11-14, Matthew 3:16-17

HOLY SPIRIT We believe the Holy Spirit is eternal, glorifies God the Father and God the Son in all that He does, convicts people of their sin, persuades people to repent of their sins and confess Jesus as Lord, unites believers to Jesus in faith, dwells within all believers at the moment of salvation, illuminates truth, guides believers through life, the giver of spiritual gifts, is our advocate, and equips and empowers believers to follow and serve the Lord.

John 14:26, Isaiah 63:11, Matthew 1:18-20, John 16:8, Matthew 28:19, Mark 13:11, John 1:32-33, John 3:6, Acts 2:38-39, Acts 5:32, Romans 8:1-17, 23-27, Romans 15:13, 1 Corinthians 12:1-4 & 13, John 6:63, 2 Corinthians 3:18, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20, Ephesians 4:30, Galatians 5:22-23

THE BIBLE We believe the Bible is God’s holy word that consists of 66 books, 39 books in the Old Testament and 27 books in the New Testament. We believe God divinely spoke through the 40 different men who wrote His words. The Bible is living, without any error or fault, and is the ultimate authority for all followers of Jesus. We also believe the entire narrative of the Bible is about the Gospel- the good news of God lovingly and graciously redeeming and rescuing all mankind from spiritual death through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.

2 Timothy 3:16-17, Hebrews 4:12, James 1:22, Isaiah 40:8, Psalm 18:30, Matthew 24:35, Matthew 4:4, Psalm 33:4, John 8:31-32, Psalm 30:5, Isaiah 55:11, 2 Peter 1:19-21

PEOPLE We believe people are the highlight of God’s creation. He created us in His image and breathed life into all humanity. This means that we our identity is first and foremost image bearers of God. We believe that God chose to create us out of His defining nature of love. “All people, male and female, were made by God, in the image of God, to be like God, in a relationship with God. As persons in loving relationship, we are to extend this reality throughout the world. Through us, God amplifies divine love into all creation. This is our origin, our purpose, and the context for everything that follows. This is who we are and why we’re here… God make you like himself so he could do life together with you. And nothing else. He has no hobbies. Not distractions. Just you.” Bruxy Cavey from re(union).

Genesis 1:26-28, Genesis 2:7, 15-25, Psalm 100:3, Psalm 139:13-16, Isaiah 43:5-7, John 13:35, John 15:16, Ephesians 2:10, 1 John 3:1

SIN & REDEMPTION We believe God created Adam and Eve who lived in perfection without sin. But they chose to sin against God after being tempted by Satan, which brought sin into the world for all mankind. This sin relationally separates us from God. But through believing and trusting in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus, mankind is made holy and right with God. Jesus’ all-sufficient sacrifice for our sins provided a holy substitution for everyone’s sin in the past, present, and future. It’s only by believing and placing our faith in Jesus’ life, atoning death, and victorious resurrection that we may be rescued from our sinful nature.

Why does Mission Wilmington exist?

Although the largest age demographic in Wilmington is those in their mid-20’s to mid-30’s, there are a lack of places and spaces for young adults to connect through meaningful relationships. Mission Wilmington is creating a way for young adults in Wilmington to connect relationally, to make a positive impact in our community through serving, and to provide a place to process their spirituality.

How are you going to connect with young adults in Wilmington?
There seems to be three common needs among young adults who live in Wilmington:

1) a way to meet people and create meaningful relationships, 2) to make a difference in our city through community service, and 3) an open, safe place to process spiritual things. Our strategy on connecting with young adults through those needs are through Large Groups, Mid-Sized Events, and Personal Connections:

The Gathering- weekly meeting for young adults to connect relationally and spiritually

Special Events- concerts, community forums, career fair, leadership panels, etc.

Community Service Projects- partner monthly with local non-profits to help them serve our city

Social Events- sponsor fun, social events for connection and building relationships

Mission Groups- small groups of young adults that meet in their homes to read and discuss scripture, pray for one another, and to grow in their faith as they grow with one another.

Mentorship- connecting young adults with older generations for the purpose of discipleship and multigenerational community.

Is Mission Wilmington a church?
The short answer to that question is no. However, we are a faith-based, non-profit that is part of what
God is doing in Wilmington. Our goal is to create safe, open, non-religious ways for people to truly
hear, see, understand, and experience God.
Who can be a part of Mission Wilmington?
Our only limitation is those who are in their young 20’s to those who are in their young 30’s. Other
than that, we welcome ANYONE, regardless of race, gender, orientation, spiritual beliefs, religion,
single, married, etc.
How can I be a part of Mission Wilmington?

We are currently in the planning phase, with hopes of officially launching in early 2019. In the
meantime, we will have some vision meetings, hang outs, and community service projects. Go to our
EVENTS page for details on upcoming events. You can also follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
If you are not a young adult, then there will be lots of future opportunities for you to be a part of
